There is a saying about an “ounce of prevention being worth a pound of cure”, and this is the impetus behind a workshop that will be on offer in the Petaluma area.
A variety of agencies will be joining forces to offer an evening event that has been planned with a goal of ensuring the area is well prepared in case a disaster should occur. It will equip households with knowledge and skills they can use to survive in an emergency, and there is no fee to register.
The organizers noted that the information provided can help a person cope on their own for between five to seven days should a crisis occur, and they explained that there are many benefits of being able to do so. If everyone is well prepared, it can reduce the number of injuries and strain on local first responders and the area as a whole.
The participants in the workshop will learn how they can make an emergency plan and also how they can construct a kit of items they may need. Storing food and water will also be addressed, and there will also be details shared about community and other resources the attendees can use to keep themselves informed and up to date.
