A Petaluma program that offers an introduction to the wildlife that calls the area home has its schedule of walks up and running for another winter.
The Petaluma wetlands will be the location for guided bird and nature walks, and these docent-led activities will be organized by the Petaluma Wetlands Alliance. Everyone is asked to bring along a face mask and binoculars, and hats and bottles of water are also highly recommended.
The participants in the outings can expect to spot as many as 50 different species, and those that live in wetlands, the sea shore and also inland areas may all be seen. The guides will point out different birds and aid in identification, and they will also offer tips to the group. There will be monthly visits to Ellis Creek and Shollenberger Park, and they will run until June.
One of the roles that is often taken on by grass roots level organizations is public education, and a printing services company will have a variety of ways of supporting these efforts. The schedule for the guided bird walks will take place on the second and fourth Saturday of each month, so the next one will be on January 22 at Ellis Creek. They will begin at 9:00 am and wrap up at 11:00 am. The Petaluma Wet Alliance website offers further information.
