Petaluma pop-up to feature native plants
Going native when it comes to gardening is a movement that has been growing in popularity over the past few years, and a Petaluma area sale will help to connect plants with people.
The Sonoma Ecology Center works to both protect the environment and encourage sustainable living, and it has organized a sale focused on native flora. Volunteers will be on hand to help the crowd make their selections, and assistance in both Spanish and English will be available.
The species and cultivars that will be in the mix during the morning will showcase plants that are well adapted to local growing conditions, along with common pests and diseases. They may also serve as a source of food for people and wildlife. A complete listing of what will be on offer will be released closer to the activity’s scheduled date.
Pop-up sales can perform double duty by raising both funding and awareness. A poster printing company will be pleased to help, and it will be able to offer moneysaving marketing tips and other advice.
This chance for Petaluma gardeners to discover how much fun locals can have with native plants will be held on Saturday, April 8. Sonoma Garden Park, which is located at 19996 7th Street, will welcome shoppers starting at 9:00 am. The organizers say RSVPs will be appreciated.
