Petaluma will be joining other communities all across the USA this November to recognize local veterans and honor those who are no longer here to celebrate.
The city will once again be hosting a Veterans Day Parade, and it will include participants from past, present and future military personnel. There will be special ceremonies both before and after the procession, and the organizers noted that they greatly appreciate the generosity of the area's small business community that has chosen to sponsor the event.
While the activity is intended to recognize all veterans, it will have a special focus on those who served in Vietnam between 1961 and 1975. There will be at least two special guest speakers, and local performers will sing the National Anthem. Anyone who is interested in marching in the parade is encouraged to submit their registration, and these may be handed in at American Legion Post 28.
The organizers of the day noted that the staging area for the function will be set up for the participants between I and D Streets, and spotters will be assigned to help with this. A printing services company will be able to prepare tees and other items for the volunteers to wear during this sort of function so they can easily be seen.
This year's Petaluma Veterans Day Parade will take place on November 11th. The Grand Marshal for the day will be Steve Kemmerle.
