The world’s orangutans are in trouble, and the Sumatran Orangutan Society (SOS) is in the process of offering them a lifeline by purchasing a former palm oil plantation and transforming it to a healthy habitat for these gentle apes. It has planned a fundraiser in Petaluma, and the public’s support will be greatly appreciated.
The goal of the Swing Into Action fundraiser is to collect as much monies as possible, as these will be used to purchase the land in Sumatra. It will be converted back to a rainforest, which will provide habitat for orangutans as well as tigers, elephants, parrots and other endangered species.
The afternoon event will include a presentation from Suzi Eszterhas, who is a well-known wildlife photographer. Hors d’oeuvres will be served along with wine and craft beers, and there will also be music and a silent auction. The guests will learn about the 890-acre piece of property that SOS is working to protect, all while they enjoy the festive atmosphere and a chance to mingle with others who care about the environment.
Tickets for this afternoon in support of one of man's closest relatives are $100 each. A poster printing company can produce large sized visual materials for this type of event that can show the land, the plan for its future, and the animals and plants that will be helped.
Beaumont Farms will be hosting this fundraiser on February 2. Located at 5580 Red Hill Road, it is set to begin at 3:00 pm.
