Local arts center opening new exhibition in January

The Sebastopol Center for the Arts will be premiering the Watermedia Exhibition next month.

The exhibition will be presenting 40 works from the annual exhibition of the American Watercolor Society; these works are only showing in seven galleries and museums in the United States. Those artists who are featured are all living and working in California. There will be several events taking place related to this show.

The opening reception will take place on January 8, and guests may have the opportunity to meet some of the artists. There are also a couple of workshops that will be held, namely the Wizard workshop for kids, which free and takes place on January 23 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm, and ‘Watercolor Beyond the Obvious’, which is a five-day workshop for adults. Fees for the latter are $475 for members and $500 for nonmembers, and it will begin on January 29.

Both workshops are taught by Jean Warren. Another offering will be ‘The Time of Your Life with Watercolor’ taking place on January 24 and costing $60 and $65.

Those who have an interest in the arts and learning how to paint will likely want to take part in at least one of these activities. Residents of surrounding communities such as Petaluma might find out about it from a flyer provided by a local Print company.

The Watermedia Exhibition will be on display from January 8 to February 17. Call 707-829-4797 to learn more.
