The first annual youth comic convention is coming to Petaluma.
LumaCON, a non-profit educational event, will have comics, graphic novels, and more. In addition, there will be crafts and food. Near the end of the event, a costume contest will take place.
Individuals can come face to face with industry experts, and can sign up for half-hour time slots with either a professional artist, illustrator, or writer. During this time, they can learn tips about getting started in the business and also bring some of their own work to show the professionals.
In addition, aspiring artists and creators can attend different panel interviews and learn about careers in comics and other related industries. It is likely that professionals arranged for a business card printing service create cards to pass out at the event.
Young artists also have the opportunity to sign up to be part of the Youth Artist Alley. Here, youth can display or sell their work. Signups are available online or individuals can Print out a form to send in.
Attendees may donate the suggested admission amounts of $5 for each young adult, $10 for a family, or $15 for adults who are by themselves. Children under 10 may attend free of charge.
