Event promises great chili and entertainment

The 19th annual Great Petaluma Chili Cook-off, Salsa and Beer Tasting is taking place next month. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Cinnabar Theater Young Reparatory Company.

Several restaurants, caterers, and nonprofit organizations from the Petaluma area will be competing for a number of judges’ awards, including those for individuals, business, service organization, traditional salsa, meat chili, and fruit salsa. There is also a people's choice award to vie for.

Guests will be able to enjoy unlimited chili and salsa samples and try some area beers. There will be musical entertainment provided by groups such as the Bloomfield Bluegrass Volunteers and Stony Point. Other entertainment will include the Sister Sirens Belly Dancers and magician The Amazing Caine.

Vendors will also be on hand to sell arts and crafts and food, or provide information about various community organizations. Sponsorships are available from $500 up to $5,000.

It is likely that some of the vendors or chili competitors will purchase Banners from their favorite Petaluma banner printing company to draw more attention to their booths.

The event will be held at the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds on May 7 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Tickets are $25 each or $45 with beer samples. To learn more about the day's activities, become a sponsor, or find out more about the charity, call 707-763-8920.
