An Oakland Park serves as a winter home for ladybugs, banana slugs and many other creatures. A group of hikers will be taking a guided excursion through the parcel of land, stopping to explore any discoveries they make along the way.
The group will be walking through the park’s redwood forests, looking for ladybug clusters along the way. They may also spot large banana slugs, fish, newts, and many other animals, and the route followed will be between four and five miles.
The participants have been asked to assemble at the Canyon Meadow Staging Area, and they will head out from there once everyone has arrived. They are reminded to bring water and a lunch, and sturdy walking or hiking shoes or boots are recommended. There is no registration fee, and if it’s raining, the event will be cancelled. The terrain will be moderately rough, and there will be an elevation change of several hundred feet.
An outing like this can be a fun way for nature enthusiasts to meet others who share their interests in the outdoors. Maps, simple field guides and other items that can make the experience more enjoyable can be prepared for the occasion by Print shops.
This fee chance to see how local ladybugs spend their winter days will be on offer on December 8. The registrants have been asked to arrive by no later than 9:30 am.
