Oakland soon to host first Comic Con

While Oakland is no stranger to the comic book community, this city has yet to host a Comic Con. However, things are about to change thanks to an event this May.

The Oakland community is already beginning to prepare for its first-ever Comic Con. Numerous household names will be attending, and some of these personalities enjoy nationwide recognition. Examples include Justin Greenwood, Dave Johnson, Jorge R. Guiterrez, Andy Price, and Tony Shasteen.

However, this Comic Con will also feature creators associated with the Bay Area. Erik Larsen, Scott Morse, David Brothers, Julia Wertz, and John Giang are additional examples. These individuals will be attending a specific on-site exhibition known as Artist Alley. Guests can visit different stalls, purchase collectables, and pose for pictures with their favorite local artists.

This is one of the largest comic book conventions of its kind, and Oakland organizers are keen to make the most out of the opportunity. Events such as this will often use trusted marketing methods to ensure a high attendance. Flyer printing, radio advertisements, and circulars taken out on local newspapers are some methods that are commonly employed.

The 2026 Oakland Comic Con is being held on Saturday, May 9th, and Sunday, May 10th. Guests can arrive on Saturday between 10 AM and 6 PM, and this event will be open from 10 AM to 5 PM on Sunday. All exhibitions are being held within the Oakland Convention Center located at 550 10th Street. Prices for adult tickets begin at $25 per person.
