Massive street fair returns to Oakland streets

There are many ways in which Oakland residents can enjoy the summer months, and one common pastime involves attending outdoor events. A large street fair is slated to return in August, and this event is ideal for visitors of all ages.

The Laurel StreetFair World Music Fest is celebrating its 26th consecutive year, and organizers have already put together an impressive lineup of attractions. Like previous festivals, it is thought that more than 15,000 individuals from throughout the greater Oakland area will be attending this year's fair.

The main intention of this celebration is to recognize how music has impacted the Oakland community, and to highlight numerous unique musical styles within an inviting atmosphere. All proceeds generated from this event will be allocated toward various public services. These include graffiti removal, improving the facades of local businesses, and ensuring that trash is removed from the streets.

Artists will often use festivals such as this to promote their projects. They may choose to hand out Business Cards after completing a performance, to provide free samples of popular hits, or simply to stay behind, and to connect with the audience on a more personal level.

The 26th Annual Laurel StreetFair World Music Fest is taking place on Saturday, August 8th from 11 Am to 7 PM. All attractions are being held along MacArthur Boulevard between 35th Avenue and Maybelle Avenue. Leashes dogs are welcome, and there is no charge to attend.
