Oakland area offered introduction to birding

This state is home to birds ranging from tiny hummingbirds to huge California condors, and an Oakland area activity will give those who are new to birdwatching a collection of skills they can use.

The Birds of Alemany Farm class this weekend will introduce birding with an interactive outdoor activity. The suggested donation to participate is $25 per participant, and the walking workshop will run for two hours.

The facilitator for the session will lead the group on a tour of the farmstead, pointing out birds and offering spotting tips along the way. Information about various species will be shared, and there may even be the opportunity to view a “lifer”. The attendees will discover how birds play an important role in the ecosystems they inhabit.

Everyone has been asked to come prepared with a field guide as well as a pair of binoculars if they have them. There is parking on site, and the venue is also accessible via public transit.

For nature-based learning, a brochure printing company can prepare everything from species checklists to simple field guides, certificates of completion, and other custom materials.

The event has been scheduled for the morning of this Sunday, March 2. It will start at 10:00 am, and continue on until 12:00 pm. It may be cancelled or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather.
