Oakland offers growing conditions where plants can thrive all year round, and a workshop will teach members of the public how they can use them to their advantage.
An in-person activity will introduce the area's budding green thumbs to vegetable growing, and the tips may be useful whether they have a balcony garden or a huge plot. Carey Craddock will serve as the instructor for the morning, and a full tour of the beds at Garden for the Environment, which will be the location for the activity, is included.
During the session, the group will discover how to choose which plants will perform best in their particular conditions, and they will also learn how to provide them with the care they need to be fully productive. The tips shared may be useful throughout the year, and everyone will have a chance to ask questions. Each registrant is asked to bring their own gardening gloves.
Home horticulture is a popular hobby but not everyone knows how to get started. Workshops can help them to gain confidence in their gardening skills, and a brochure printing company will be able to ensure they have a variety of learning materials to take home with them.
The Grow Your Own Food class will be held on April 9. Everyone is asked to be on site at 1590 7th Avenue by no later than its scheduled start time of 10:00 am.
