What's Happening in Napa, CA…

Napa golfers can swing for a good cause

This month, golf enthusiasts have the opportunity to practice their swing while supporting a good cause.

'Swing for Sight' is a golf tournament and wine tasting event that will help the Ocular Melanoma Foundation and ‘A Cure In Sight’. For a $150 registration fee, participants will be treated to lunch, cocktails, and dinner. There will also be awards, a silent auction, and a raffle. Registrants can choose between engaging in a round of golf or a tour of several Napa wineries. For $60, guests can enjoy dinner, the auction, awards, and the raffle. Other perks include a ‘hole-in-one prize’ for golfers and a gift bag.

Funds from the non-profit event will be used to support research for ocular melanoma, a rare eye cancer. This will hopefully lead to new treatments and possibly even a cure. The proceeds will also help ease patients’ economic burdens associated with services. The event organizers hope to raise awareness about this eye cancer as well as funds.

Sponsors will have ‘stations’ to give out water and other materials. Print companies in Napa may have provided these sponsors with business cards, flyers, and other handouts. Poster printing services have also likely been utilized to help promote the event.

The ‘Swing for Sight’ event takes place on May 3 at the Eagle Vines Vineyards and Golf Club, located on 580 South Kelly Road.
