What's Happening in Napa, CA…

Napa cleans up the neighborhood

The Napa City Presidents’ Day Clean Up invites families to help beautify downtown Napa.

Participants will be put into groups to pick up trash, collect recyclable items, paint over graffiti, and beautify public places in the downtown area.

To put on this free event, Napa Valley CanDo has partnered with the City of Napa Department of Public Works and the CVNL Volunteer Napa. It is likely the event organizers have sought out a poster printing service to make promotional signs to hang around the community.

CanDo aims to improve the community through promoting volunteerism and communication on local issues. Recent projects have included educating residents about the environmental effects of using single use plastic bags. Family science projects, food drives, and homeless outreach are a few of the other past and present projects CanDo has organized.

Individuals should wear close-toed shoes and will be given gloves and trash bags. While children are welcome, adults need to accompany minors. In the event of heavy rain, the event will be cancelled.

The fun starts on Monday, February 16. Starting at 8:30 am, volunteers can sign in and fill out waiver forms. The cleanup will go on from 9:00 am until noon, although volunteers do not have to stay the entire time.

Participants are instructed to meet on the corner of First and Washington Street.
