What's Happening in Napa, CA…

Festival honors a rare fungus

The 7th annual Napa Truffle Festival is taking place over four days next month, presented by the American Truffle Company.

The festival will attract some of the best-known truffle experts in the world, dog trainers and master chefs. A marketplace will be set up at the Oxbow Public Market, which will feature truffle creations for sale, cooking demonstrations, and arts and crafts vendors. There may even be giveaways from Napa vendors, such as promotional pens.

Visitors can choose between several activities including a hunt for wild mushrooms, a tour of a truffle orchard, dog training demonstrations, and lunch at Napa area restaurants. A seminar on truffle cultivation will also be taking place.

This Napa festival will no doubt introduce a lot of people to truffles and will teach them how to grow their own.

The Napa Truffle Festival will be held at various locations from January 13 to 16. A full pass that includes all activities costs $1,375, and a pass not including a truffle and wine dinner is $990. Lunches cost $250 each, the hunt for wild mushrooms is $70, and the truffle orchard tour (which includes lunch) is $60. Dinner costs $395 and will take place on January 14. The Truffle Cultivation seminar is $260 and will be held on January 13.
