Spirit Halloween opens in Concord

Two new Spirit Halloween spots are now open in Concord, California, having opened their doors late in September as they usually do.

The costume seller appears in cities and towns across the country in the weeks leading up to the holiday season, and then disappears again, only to reappear the following year

In 2015, fans of the Halloween holiday spent almost $7bn on costumes, accessories, decorations, and props for the occasion, according to information compiled by the National Retail Foundation, as Halloween increasingly becomes a day for adults to enjoy themselves, rather than simply taking children out for trick-or-treat.

Spirit keeps its stores open for longer and longer hours the closer it gets to Halloween. People planning to shop there should check the website to see when their local shop is open. It is possible to place orders online year-round.

Spirit Halloween, which was begun in 1983, was already operating 63 stores across the country when Spencer's bought the chain in 1999. Using the Spirit name, Spencer's established a seasonal, nationwide Halloween business that now opens more than 1,100 locations in malls, strip centers, and free-standing buildings for a limited time each year.

Stores like this sometimes work with a flyer printing company, which can put together a handout to be distributed near the site, reminding shoppers of the limited timeframe for shopping.
