Concord runners prepare for annual marathon

Residents of Concord have already begun limbering up for a casual race occurring at the end of November each year. Rain or shine, organizers are expecting a wide range of participants.

The Concord Turkey Trot is actually one in a series of marathons that take place around the country during the autumn. In fact the first competition was held in Buffalo as far back as 1896.

This year's event is being sponsored by the Diablo Valley Federal Credit Union. All proceeds will be donated to Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa. Everyone who chooses to participate will be presented with an official Turkey Trot t-shirt, and a medal; regardless of how they may place.

Events intended to raise money for worthy causes will rely on a number of proven methods to keep the public informed. Common techniques include banner printing, placing leaflets in local commercial venues, and using the power of social media to appeal to an even wider audience base.

The 2025 Concord Turkey Trot is being held on November 27th, and the marathon will begin at 8 AM. Those who wish to participate should meet at Newhall Park located at 1351 Newhall Parkway well in advance. Individual tickets cost $35 per person. Note that prices are expected to increase after October 31st. Tickets can be purchased at the official Concord Turkey Trot website.
