Meals on Wheels America recently awarded a grant of $2,000 to Meals on Wheels and Senior Outreach Services (MOWSOS), which serves Contra Costa County (of which Concord is the largest city) for its participation in the March for Meals Campaign that was held for the 14th consecutive year.
This was the second year that Meals on Wheels and Senior Outreach Services participated in this event, which is a national awareness campaign that celebrates the collaboration amongst individuals, businesses, government, and local organizations to ensure that seniors are always remembered.
The event was held in March. During it, volunteers were accompanied by community leaders to deliver hot meals and a friendly smile to seniors who are homebound in Contra Costa County.
According to the CEO of MOWSOS, Elaine Clark, the campaign highlights the needs of seniors in the County, who are now in need of help so they can lead independent lives.
Subaru of America, Inc. made the grant possible as part of its eighth annual Share the Love Event, which ran from November 2015 through early January 2016. For every new Subaru that a customer leased or purchased, Subaru donated $250 to a hometown or national charity of the customer’s choosing.
MOWSOS might benefit from the assistance of a local printing company to raise awareness for its mission throughout the County by means Posters and Banners.
