Seniors get a chance to learn about healthy living

The Age Strong, Live Long Healthy Lifestyle Expo is coming to the Concord Senior Center later this week.

Hosted by the Senior Center and the Concord Commission on Aging, the Expo will offer information about resources, products, and services that benefit older adults, their caregivers, and families. There are expected to be more than 40 vendors in attendance, and this will be a good opportunity for them to use brochure printing to spread more details about their offerings that attendees can take home with him. The first 500 attendees will receive a free tote bag.

The nursing students from the Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts will have sample of juiced fruits and vegetables. Dr. Leonard Chuck, M.D., Ph.D., will make presentations on healthy aging and diabetes.

The Department of Veterans Affairs will have its Mobile Vet Center with information about their services for helping veterans who are transitioning to civilian life. Pharmacists from Walgreens will answer questions about medications and potential interactions, so attendees are encouraged to bring their medications. The Senior Center itself will have a list of the activities, programs and classes it offers.

Diablo Clinical Research, Senior Helpers, and the Gurnick Academy will provide various health screenings, including heel scans, cholesterol, and blood pressure.

The Expo will be held on Friday, February 26 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. The event is free and open to the public.
