Registration for teen-oriented climate change conference opens in Concord

Middle and high school students in Concord, California, can now register for Youth for Entertainment and Sustainability, or YES, conference, which will be held in February.

The conference is designed to bring together students from all nine counties in the San Francisco Bay area to discuss a variety of topics. These will include air pollution, transportation, public health, and climate change.

Noah Preute, who serves on the YES Conference’s student planning committee, told media that the conference is designed to get students motivated to lead climate change actions in their schools, as well as local communities. He said he was excited to help with conference planning and informing his peers about climate change.

If youth development coordinators or teachers are able to register their students prior to October 30th, they will be entered into a prize drawing, and may be able to win a $250 grant to be used for related classroom youth leadership projects or activities. The event itself is sponsored by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission and the Bay Area Air Quality Management District. Companies that sponsor similar events may be able to use marketing services to spread awareness of the event and their brand.

The conference will be held on February 25, at the Bay Area Metro Center in San Francisco. For more information, or to register, visit the YES website.
