Legendary rockers en route to Concord

Fans of some of the greatest names in rock will have to wait a little longer to see them in person, but the event remains on the schedule with a new date.

Steely Dan and guest Steve Winwood were originally slated to appear earlier this year, but the event is now set for next summer.

The group first got together in 1972, blending a variety of genres, including blues, R&B, jazz, rock, and more, with cryptic lyrics, to create a sound that made them a huge success. Among their biggest hits are “Rikki Don't Lose That Number,” and “Reelin' in the Years.”

Steve Winwood was in the Spencer Davis Group, and Blind Faith, which also included Eric Clapton. He has enjoyed great success as a solo artist, landing the top spot on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart twice, with “Roll with It” and “Higher Love.” His album “Roll with It” spawned not only the title track, but “Holding On,” and “Don't You Know What the Night Can Do?”

A review says:

“Winwood proved . . . that his voice still has that impressive heart full of soul as he left the stage with applause echoing . . . All of which set up . . . high expectations for a Steely Dan show which did not disappoint . . .”

Originally intended for last June, the new date is June 5, 2021, at the Concord Pavilion. Tickets bought for the original show will be honored. Poster printing is often used to advertise events like this.
