Saint Mary’s College of California, located in Moraga not far from Concord, will be having a special speaker series this month during the Jan Term.
Speakers from the worlds of politics, science, art, and technology come to the campus for a day of meeting with students in their classes and then presenting their ideas to the entire community at a lecture in the evening, which is free and open to the public.
The featured guest speaker is Ruth Ozeki, who has written on a broad range of topics, including the impact of Pope Francis around the world and the mental health challenges and gender boundaries in society. Her lecture, ‘Lives Lived Well’, will be on Monday, January 12.
Alan Jabbour and Karen Singer Jabbour, photographers and folklorists, have written about Appalachian traditions in American folk art and music and will be discussing ‘Life-Changing Encounters with Appalachian Culture’ on January 20.
Also in the series is Jason Cohen, who is an Academy Award-nominated filmmaker, and whose film, ‘Facing Fear: A Path to Forgiveness’ tells the true story of Tim Zaal and Matthew Boger, who will be joining him for the lecture to discuss the film and the challenges they faced towards forgiveness and reconciliation. This talk will be on January 21.
Most likely, the College is turning to poster printing to Print items that will be distributed around campus and throughout the community to generate enthusiasm for the lecture series and encourage attendance among both students and the community.Get a Free Quote for Print
