Convention to take place in Concord

A convention covering a wide variety of topics in pop culture will be taking place in Concord in early February.

East Bay Comic-Con is an event where fans can gather to celebrate their love of comics, Pokémon, art, cosplay, and more. It originated in 1979, under the name Super-Con, and has undergone several changes and moves as the event has grown.

This year, panels will be held in addition to a cosplay contest and the exhibition floors where vendors and individual creators will be selling the likes of toys, art prints, comic Books, collectables, and pins. Each booth will be marked with a corresponding company Logo Design. There will be two rooms for these sellers to set up.

Guests for the attendees to interact with include Tone Rodriguez, Liam Sharp, CJ Ward of The Ramones, Art Adams, Joylee Chin, Eugene Braverock, and Jimmy Workman.

The contest for the cosplay costumes will have a section for those aged 16 and older, and one for the teens and children younger than this. Entrants can make or buy their costumes, as well as be in a pair, group, or individual piece. Registration will take place the day of the convention. Prizes will be given to the top three winners in both divisions, as well as the audience favorites.

Tickets are $10, with kids who are 12 or younger getting into the event for free. It will be held at the Crowne Plaza Inn from 10:00am to 5:00pm on February 6.
