The Growing Smarter Together Award was recently presented to the City of Concord by the Association of Bay Area Governments.
The awards recognize those cities, towns, and counties that have used innovative efforts in planning, revitalization, and the use of technology to promote conservation and green efforts in their communities.
The city was credited for the creation of its Downtown Concord Specific Plan, which calls for developing its historic downtown and core plaza with a diversity of housing opportunities, new transit, and alternative modes of transportation, yet preserving the qualities of the city that make it attractive for living, working, and recreation.
The plan was created with input from various members of the community, including business owners, residents, local and regional stakeholders, and those involved in transportation. It takes advantage of the downtown’s close proximity to the Bay Area Rapid Transit, which is the main access route into the city. The plan will integrate jobs, housing, retail, and public transportation with vehicular traffic, pedestrians, and access for disabled people.
The plan was designed with intention to revitalize the downtown, accommodate population and employment growth, and allow for an urban and transportation design for the future.
The city most likely turned to a local Print company to Print out the extension plan so that those in the community could review it and be informed of both short- and long-term plans for the city.Get a Free Quote for Print
