The Concord Commission on Aging, the Concord Senior Center, and the local Home Instead Senior Care office are working with businesses, nonprofit organizations, and residents of the community to participate in the ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ service program.
Senior citizens in the community, who are often lonely and may not receive a gift or companionship during this holiday season, are provided with holiday cheer by others in the community.
According to the chairman of the Concord Commission on Aging, Melvin Lee, more than 250 senior citizens were served during Christmas 2014, and Boy Scout troops from the local area delivered gifts and visited seniors in the community.
Businesses and organizations that participated in the program had a tree in their shops, with gift tags for those seniors needing cheer and gifts. People selected a gift with the name of the senior and their wish for the season, purchased the gift, and then returned it, along with the tag, to where they picked it up.
From 10:00 am to noon this Saturday, December 19, there will be gift wrapping party at the Senior Center to wrap all the gifts that were collected. Most likely, local printers will also be involved in this activity so as to include Holiday Cards along with the gifts to make them more personal and festive.Get a Free Quote for Holiday Cards
