Concord business to host creative lesson

A company will be holding a crafty class in mid-November at its Concord location.

Gift Making: Christmas Mini River Table is an activity where attendees will be learning several skills in the woodworking field, as well as how to work with epoxy. A skilled instructor will lead the guests through the safe use of the tools and materials.

Rockler Woodworking and Hardware, the company behind the lesson, is also a storefront. Those interested can shop from the large selection of woods, saws, lathes, epoxies, chisels, and other materials/tools in order to create other projects at home if they choose to do so.

To make the “river table,” two pieces of wood will be cut to the correct size and colored epoxy will be poured in between them. Molds and clamps will also be made or used in order to keep the product together while everything is given time to solidify. To fit with the Christmas theme, the river of epoxy will be dyed green and red. The final products will be about 19” x 8” x ¾” in size.

This lesson is only open to people aged 18 or older. Safety glasses and materials will be provided. Classes are limited in size, tools are sanitized, and gloves are given if the tools are required to be shared. Before events like this, brochure printers can be consulted to ensure attendees have guides to take home with them.

Tickets, which can be bought through Eventbrite, are $125. The initial lesson will run from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm on November 19, with finishing carried out a week later.
