Concord airport back in business

Buchanan Field Airport in Concord recently resumed its commercial flight service.

At a special celebration on Tuesday, April 19, airport staff, city and county officials, and members from the community gathered to watch the launch of the inaugural flight of JetSuite from Buchanan Field to the Bob Hope Airport in Burbank. The jet service will be providing regular daily flights between the two airports.

A representative of the Aviation Advisory Committee from Contra Costa County, Derek Nims, commented that this could be extremely beneficial not only for the airport but for Concord and the surrounding communities.

Although the plane used will only be able to carry 30 passengers at a time, the service will be able to reduce the time it takes to get to the airports in Oakland or San Francisco, go through security, and take the hour-long trip from Northern to Southern California by 50%.

Keith Rabin, President of JetSuite, added that the service will free travelers of all the traffic and mean they can avoid using the tunnel.

The carrier will also be offering flights to and from Las Vegas, with a flight that lands on Friday nights in Vegas and returns on Sunday afternoons to Concord.

Brochures could be a good resource for JetSuite to provide more information about these flights and to promote them. The planes will offer free Wi-Fi, drinks and snacks, and business-class seating.
