Burger specialist landing in Concord

A custom burger restaurant chain that began in Tel Aviv, Israel, is expanding to locations in the Bay Area, including Concord.

Burgerim was launched in 2011, and today has more than 150 locations around the world. Its planned expansion will increase the number of restaurants it operates in California from 19 to approximately 95.

In the Bay Area, Burgerim is opening locations in San Mateo, Santa Clara, San Pablo, San Jose, San Francisco, Pleasanton, Pleasant Hill, Fremont, and El Cerrito. In Concord, the store will be opening in Todos Santos Plaza. Three of the new stores, those in Pleasanton, Pleasant Hill, and Fremont, are planned as certified halal.

Burgerim's offerings are not run-of-the-mill burgers, and the concept is based on the idea of customization. Customers are served what Burgerim describes as “sensibly sized” patties of 2.8 ounces, and may choose one, two, three, or a box of burgers. In order to customize their order, a patron can choose the type of patty, and the toppings, as well as the type of bread. Among the choices for the patty itself are salmon, lamb, turkey, Spanish beef, chicken, and Wagyu beef; topping choices include grilled onions, avocado, fried egg, and bacon.
