What's Happening in Concord, CA…

Applications available for Concord Community Institute

The City of Concord is inviting people who would like to learn more about the community and how it operates to attend the Fall Concord Community Institute (CCI).

The CCI gives attendees a chance to participate in interactive activities and discussions with staff and elected officials, as they learn how decisions are made, and how city departments operate.

The first session will take place at the Civic Center, where staff members will give an ‘Introduction to Government’ presentation, after which participants will enjoy a bus tour of Concord, and a lunch. The four following sessions will take place throughout the city at various government facilities. Topics will include community services such as Public Works and Parks and Recreation; the development review process; economic development; the Concord Naval Weapons Station Reuse Plan; and public safety.

There will be six sessions in the upcoming course, running from September 22 to October 20. The initial and final meetings will be held during the day on Saturday, while the other four will take place Thursday nights from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

The CCI is free, but space is limited to Concord residents, or people who own a business or work in the city, and who are 18 years of age or older. Applications are available on the city's website, and must be completed by 5:00 pm on Friday, August 24.

Organizers of courses like this can use flyer printing to organize materials.
