Affordable food option on the way to Concord

Whole Foods will be opening a ‘365 by Whole Foods Market’ to the shopping center planned for the former Chevron campus in Concord.

Th concept is a new chain of affordable stores by the grocer that offers products to shoppers who are more conscious of their budgets. According to a news release by the company, the store aims to provide a grocery shopping experience that will facilitate healthy shopping while making it affordable, and maintain the same standards as the regular Whole Foods Markets stores.

In the store will be a combination of known brands and the 365 Everyday Value line of Whole Foods, which includes snacks, frozen food, canned goods, and staples for the pantry. The Friends of 365 will enable local entrepreneurs to secure space inside the grocery stores to sell their own specialty merchandise, prepared food, or services. These entrepreneurs may consider brochure printing and other marketing services to provide more information about their products and services for customers.

The Chevron campus was purchased by CenterCal Properties, which is a Southern California-based retail real estate development company. It plans to use the campus for a shopping center of 375,000 square feet in size that will accommodate 50 tenants, including restaurants, retail shops and a movie theater, with the goal of a Fall 2017 opening.
