This Thanksgiving, West Los Angeles residents have been asked to consider lending a hand with a local food distribution event.
Lost Angels Org., which tackles poverty at the grassroots level, has put out a call seeking volunteers for its Thanksgiving in Venice event. There are several tasks that will need to be done, and all ages are encouraged to get involved.
Those who register for the project will help to set up the tenting and organize the donations, and it will then be time to distribute the food to those in need. The activity will also offer emotional support and show the city's homeless population that their neighbors care.
Along with the food, the helpers will hand out toiletries and clothing, and in previous years hundreds of people have received assistance. Anyone who would like to get involved but can’t do so in person may still make a difference by dropping off some home-cooked Thanksgiving dishes, toiletry items, blankets, new shoes and socks, and warm clothing. Monetary donations will also be greatly appreciated.
A large public event may benefit from having signage prepared, as this can help to keep it organized. A poster printing company will be happy to help here.
