Expanding a city’s tree canopy is an investment in the future, and those who call West Los Angeles home may want to take advantage of an upcoming activity that will help them.
Residents of Los Angeles who would like to get involved in the Shade Tree Adoption event planned for mid-April will receive up to seven trees to take home and plant in their own yard. Provided first come, first served on a walk-up basis, the trees will be distributed for two hours.
The function is taking place thanks to the combined efforts of Climate Resolve and City Plants, and everyone who would like to receive trees will need to show proof of residency, such as a photo ID or LADWP bill. The saplings will each be planted in five-gallon containers, and the species that have been selected tend to perform well in growing conditions found in the local area.

This shade tree adoption afternoon will see local households go home with some new green “friends” on Saturday, April 18. Scheduled for Salazar Park, it will run from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm.
