SGT wins contract to service NASA missions

Marshall Operations, Systems, Services and Integration (MOSSI) has just awarded a new contract to US-based firm SGT.

SGT will be tasked with putting up the operation services and ground systems that will be used by the Payload and Mission Operation Division. PMOD’s offices are situated at the Marshall Space Flight Center located in Huntsville. SGT’s main responsibilities include providing personnel, management, and supplies that will help the Human Exploration Development and Operations Office (HEDO) execute space operations. Most shuttles feature NASA’s well-known logo design on them.

HEDO will be in charge of maintaining, engineering, and developing the systems. NASA will benefit from this deal because more resources will be available to use on project offices, payload development, and support for other projects. The contract with SGT starts on October 1 and it will be valid for at least one year. A key feature of the contract is indefinite quantity and indefinite delivery over the course of the contract period.

A stipulation was added to the contract that allows for it to be extended for two- or five-year periods. The entire value of the contract is capped at a maximum of $570.3m and it includes the servicing of the Huntsville Operations Support Center.

A similar contract extension that secured technical professional services worth $478.4 million was given to another firm, Jacobs, which allows it to keep working at Johnson Space Center Engineering, Technology and Science.
