Segway offers a new way to see downtown Huntsville

Those looking for a novel and interesting way to get around Huntsville now have a new way to do so, as The Segway has arrived.

Through a partnership between Segway of Alabama, The Clinton Row Partnership, and Downtown Huntsville, Inc., these self balancing two wheeled scooters are now available to rent in the city center.

According to Katie Mosby, who is the Clinton Row Project’s general manager, these battery-powered vehicles move and steer according to the way the user shifts their weight, and can help to encourage people to get out and enjoy the city core.

There are up to eight of them that can be rented between noon and 6:00 pm from Wednesday to Saturday, and as the project becomes more popular, it is expected that these hours will increase.

Those wishing to try one out can visit The Clinton Row Project, which is located in the Downtown Storage building at Jefferson street and Clinton Avenue. They can also be reserved online. A company that prints digital Business Cards can produce cards to be distributed throughout the city letting people know that they can know try out a Segway for themselves.

Those who may wish to rent one must be 14 years of age or older, sign a waiver of liability, and also wear a helmet, which will be provided to them.
