Round-the-clock mental healthcare program put forward
A healthcare provider in Huntsville wants to implement a program that will ensure that people are able to get mental health care 24/7.
The WellStone Behavioral Health Center is behind this initiative. This company has been serving North Alabama for five decades and was originally called the Huntsville-Madison County Health Board. WellStone’s 50th Anniversary Celebration was held earlier this month, providing an opportunity for people involved in the healthcare industry to meet up and swap business cards and novel ideas.
Jeremy Blair, WellStone’s CEO, stated that not every mental health patient needs a hospital. Their needs are broader than that because they need to be in an environment where the help that they receive is part of a long-term process rather than just a quick consultation.
Blair notes that people with mental health disabilities have special requirements, which is why he wants to create a clinic that is prepared to help all kinds of mental health issues ranging from suicidal thoughts to depression.
Blair has been working on this program for five years. The program will require state funding if it is to reach its target of housing up to 50 patients at once. Blair wants to set up the clinic so that police are able to take suspects there immediately if they show signs of mental disharmony, so they can receive immediate treatment.
