On July 20, 1969, mankind made its first successful journey to the moon. The 50th anniversary of this landmark event in humanity’s history is coming up and it will be marked by celebrations all over the United States, with Huntsville having a significant claim to fame.
The main celebrations will be on the sites that made the flight possible. This includes Huntsville, where the rockets were built, and Houston, which was the mission control center.
Huntsville is also known as Rocket City. NASA’s Marshal Space Flight Center is located there and it is the place where the Saturn V rockets were designed and manufactured. The space center is still used for development and design for space program rockets. Locals will be able to take part in Apollo 11’s 50th-anniversary celebrations thanks to street parties, beer gardens, and moon landing re-enactments which held next Tuesday, July 16.
These events will be added to the yearlong attractions that tourists and space enthusiasts enjoy. The numerous attractions include rocket-themed rides, a planetarium, and a horizontal replica of the Saturn V rocket, which stands taller than the Statue of Liberty. A new feature known as ‘Apollo: When We Went to the Moon’ will be running until the end of the year. Banner and poster printing will likely be used to advertise this special attraction.
Space enthusiasts from all over the country can also enjoy the celebrations in California, Denver, and Seattle, which are all cities that have exhibitions planned as part of the anniversary celebrations.
