Huntsville educational program to explore genetics

Next month, HudsonAlpha Educational Outreach will host the HudsonAlpha U Nights: Understanding the Genetics of Ancestry event in Huntsville.

HudsonAlpha Educational Outreach is a education nonprofit organization that supports the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology. HudsonAlpha U represents the public educational programming the institute provides for the community. The event happening in September is one such example of these public outreach programs.

The event will explore the field of genetics, including how people can learn about their history and ancestry. Attendees will learn from experts in the field about current research in genetics and listen to discussions about news stories that highlight social and ethical concerns concerning ancestry genetics and genetics testing. The engaging and approachable format of the talk will help the public understand the often-complex concepts of genetics so that they can appreciate the ways in which genomics affects their lives.

Public educational programs like this will often be advertised in libraries and community centers through the utilization of Flyers on bulletin boards so that the community has easy access to the information about the event. Event organizers may choose to visit local businesses that specialize in flyer printing services to prepare such advertising materials.

The free genetics event is scheduled for September 12 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. It will be held at the Jackson Center, located at 6001 Moquin Drive NW.
