In August, the 20th Annual Whistlestop Weekend Festival will raise funds for STEM education initiatives, while providing Huntsville with good music and friendly barbeque competitions.
The Whistlestop Weekend Festival is a community event held in Huntsville each year in collaboration with the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS), a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting barbeque and connecting grilling enthusiasts. The festival’s purpose is to bring together the community with tasty food, live music, and friendly competition. The proceeds of the event will go towards supporting the EarlyWorks Family of Museums and its STEM initiatives.
The two-day festival will feature the KCBS pro competition for grilling buffs looking to flex their barbeque muscles, as well as the more casual Kid's Q contest and People’s Choice Awards for best barbeque. There will also be a lineup of tribute bands during the night-time that will be playing music from popular bands such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Santana, and the Dobbie Brothers. Local artists will also make appearances throughout the weekend.
The 20th Annual Whistlestop Weekend Festival is slated for August 13 and August 14. It will take place at John Hunt Park. A single-day admission ticket is $10, while a two-day pass is $20.
