Festival to raise the heat with chili event

The Mercury Rising Chili Festival is coming to Huntsville later this month, and is a fund raising event for Leadership Huntsville / Madison County.

Over 40 chili teams are expected to be on hand at the festival to provide samples and compete for the People's Choice, along with other awards. Spaces are still open and teams can register for $100, but can have up to three entries. Entry is open to anyone who has a chili recipe they would like to share with the public.

There will also be a kids' zone, a craft beer tent featuring offerings from several local breweries, and live musical performances from Huntsville and area artists.

Competitors will no doubt want to attract as many visitors as possible to their tasting booths to have a chance of being chosen as the favorite by the public. They may do this by investing in poster and banner printing services from Huntsville Print companies.

The Mercury Rising Chili Festival will take place at Big Spring Park on September 27 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Admission is $12 until September 21 and $15 after. A brew pass costs $10 and is only available at the gate; this includes two beers, two pours, and a souvenir mug. For more information about the day, contact Jenny Askins at 256-489-2281 x104.
