Debut novel launches in Huntsville

Alabama author Elise Burke Brown will introduce her debut mystery novel Chase Harlem at a public book launch event in Huntsville this June.

The Snail on the Wall bookstore will be hosting the gathering. Readers aged 16 and older are invited to hear Brown discuss her New Orleans-set crime novel and the influences behind her storytelling.

Brown, whose writing is informed by a family legacy of law enforcement, recently received an award for her unpublished manuscript. Following the award, Rising Action Publishing obtained the rights to the book, which will officially launch this summer. In addition to her work as a novelist, Brown teaches writing and manages a literary blog.

The novel follows Chase Harlem, a former federal investigator who’s drawn back into the world of crime-solving when a local priest asks her to investigate a double murder involving a prominent athlete and a rising actress. Taking place in New Orleans, the story blends regional detail with suspense and features a lead character shaped by Southern grit and wit.

Admission to the event is free. However, attendees may also reserve a copy of the book for $17.99, plus a $1.89 service fee. Tickets are limited and must be secured by June 19th. Refunds are available up to seven days prior.

Promotional Pens may be used by the host to provide participants with a keepsake for book launches such as this one.

The event will take place on Thursday, June 19th, beginning at 6 pm at 816 Wellman Avenue NE, Huntsville, Alabama.
