Alabama land trust to host kids' nature camp

The Land Trust of North Alabama will soon hold the Nature Play Camp to give Huntsville area children the opportunity to explore nature.

A member-supported nonprofit, the Land Trust of North Alabama is dedicated to conservation, preserving green spaces, providing outdoor recreational activities, and educating the public about the importance of the environment. The land trust manages Monte Sano Nature Preserve, which is the US’s largest urban preserve at 1,107 acres.

The Nature Play Camp is an opportunity for children to engage in their curiosity of nature and explore their own backyard. It will run for two weeks, with each week serving a different age group of kids. The first week will be for ages 6 to 8, and the second will be for ages 8 to 11. Award-winning author and educator Heather Montgomery will lead the camp and delve into topics such as map reading, fossils, water critters, animal tracks and scat, and how to be nature detectives.

Children’s camps often include various visual teaching materials, such as Posters and other graphics, which organizers can create using the services of local poster printing services.

The nature camp is scheduled for the week of July 18 and the week of July 25. It will take place at Monte Sano Nature Preserve on 2442 Bankhead Parkway Northeast. Registration fees range from $250 to $325.
