A cyclist from Newport is drawing closer to completing the 18,000-mile global cycling test he set himself, with the aim of raising money for Cancer Research.
Rob Shipley set off last summer seeking to make £18,000 for the cancer charity, and the 25 year old hopes to be back in the UK by March of this year.
He originally embarked on this fundraising adventure in the company of a friend called Ryan Farley, but the latter was forced to drop out when he crashed his vehicle in Los Angeles, suffering fractures to both wrists.
Shipley then continued the trip alone, arriving in the Australian city of Perth at the start of the year, before cycling on to Kuala Lumpur in the second week of January.
His journey will conclude in Vietnam, where he will fly to London before cycling home to Newport in the company of Farley and his step-father. Should locals wish to pay tribute to his efforts, they will be able to use Print shops in Newport to create celebratory Banners and Posters.
The three cyclists are already set to be greeted by members of Newport Social Cycling Club when they reach the Severn River, before finishing up at the city’s Tiny Rebel Brewery, which has backed them throughout.
Thus far, the cycling trip has succeeded in raising £9,000 towards Cancer Research UK, despite the injury sustained by Farley.Get a Free Quote for Print Get a Free Quote for Banners Get a Free Quote for Posters
