Bute Park was the venue for the run, which attracted over 6,000 entrants. The race was completed in two parts and as usual, had the city awash with pink as women donned bright T-Shirts and costumes to race against cancer.
Events like Race For Life are reliant on the sponsorship money that is generated by participants, so it is vital that people taking part in the race are able to drum up the support of friends and family. Organisers are hoping to beat the sponsorship amounts that have been raised in past years. Events manager Katie Robbshaw commented on the success of this year's run, saying:
“We are absolutely thrilled that so many women entered Race for Life in Cardiff. Together, they helped us create a fantastic atmosphere while raising crucial funds to help beat cancer.
“I have to say it was of the most emotional events we have had because this time there seemed to be a huge number of cancer survivors taking part. While the majority were here for loved ones, many were running for themselves and showing their defiance against cancer.”
