The English singer/songwriter and Ivor Novello Award winner Self-Esteem (alias Rebecca Lucy Taylor), plus a special guest, is due to play Cardiff towards the end of July.
After a decade, this musician, poet and actor, who was previously a member of indie twosome Slow Club went solo under the pseudonym Self Esteem. She released a debut album, 'Compliments Please' in 2019, which featured the singles 'Girl Crush' and 'The Best'.
Her breakthrough second LP 'Prioritise Pleasure' came out in 2021. The success of the track 'I Do This All The Time' led to Mercury, NME and BRIT Award nominations, with 'The Guardian' declaring it 'Culture Album Of The Year'. She was simultaneously playlisted on BBC Radio 1, 2 and 6 Music.
Taylor enters 2026 after the release of her third album and a new book, of the same name 'A Complicated Woman' from which the single 'Focus Is Power' comes. She was also cast in Sky’s 'Smothered' and has just finished a lengthy run as Sally Bowles in the West End production of 'Cabaret'.
Her special guest on this occasion is the poet, playwright and recording artist Kae Tempest.
