The Student Housing Company built the block of flats, marking its first ever Welsh project, having previously developed similar accommodation options for students in Edinburgh, Bristol, London and Liverpool.
Its CEO, Bob Crompton, stated that Cardiff represented a city with an exciting, cosmopolitan mix and was also one where the universities and colleges attracted more than 40,000 students each year.
He went on to state that the Oxford Street location was perfect for the development, as it is close to the campus of Cardiff University and the centre of the city, adding:
“Arofan House is an exciting development for us and the interest has already been overwhelming. This highlights the demand amongst Cardiff’s students for high-specification accommodation – a trend that we’ve been seeing across the UK.”
The facilities on offer within the one bedroom and studio flats in the block include televisions, Wi-Fi and broadband, central heating, and electric and water bills included as part of the rent. The block also has round-the-clock security, a cinema room, study room and common room with pool table.
New facilities of this kind often use local brochure printers to provide the glossy leaflets needed to showcase the different amenities they are offering.
