Fred Keenor, the FA Cup-winning captain of Cardiff City Football Club, recently had a statue created in his honour that was unveiled in November by local school children. The statue was created using donations from the council and local fans, with people donating everything from £500 chunks of funding right down to children donating their weekly pocket money to help the dream of the statue become a reality.
Cardiff City Supporters’ Trust Board facilitated the project management team behind the completion of the statue. David Craig from the Board spoke about the joint effort to make this happen, saying:
“This really was a community-led effort which reached its target despite the very difficult economic times. I’d also like to pay tribute to the small band of members of the fundraising committee who gave up many, many hours of their own time to organise events. It was a great team effort.”
Now that the statue is built and on display, a new commemorative brochure is going on sale in Fred Keenor’s honour. The brochure looks set to become a collector’s item, as it has been limited to 1,000 Copies and has been produced in a limited Print run. Many football clubs produce souvenir Booklets using local brochure printers.
Cardiff City Football Club will be selling copies of the 32-page brochure for £3. The brochure documents Fred Keenor’s life and career in Welsh Football, and is sure to be a must-buy for Cardiff fans.Get a Free Quote for Booklets Get a Free Quote for Print Get a Free Quote for Copies
