As part of the plans, a large arena is going to be surrounded with housing and shops. Print shops can be useful for various economic sectors, especially when changes have to be communicated.
While the complete designs will be made public during the month of August, a consultation process has already been launched. The public has the opportunity to respond to the idea of an arena that may accommodate 15,000 people. Over 1,100 apartments will occupy part of a 30-acre site.
A councillor with responsibility for development and investment, Russell Goodway, told Wales Online:
“The cabinet approved the masterplan for Atlantic Wharf late last year and as a result we are now ready to commence the public consultation process.”
Councillor Goodway hopes that the development under discussion will become a major visitor destination. He wants thousands of homes and jobs to be created as a result of the plans.
Enhanced public transport is at the heart of the vision. Pierhead Street is likely to be the location for a tram station, while a new train station called Cardiff Parkway could be constructed in the vicinity.
If the scheme does receive the green light, the arena should be open for business in 2025. It was initially hoped that the project would be up and running by 2024.
