The show Nine Lessons and Carols for Curious People, presented by The Cosmic Shambles Network, is due to arrive in Cardiff at the beginning of December.
In 2005, Robin Ince began a comedy night with a variety format called The Book Club that combined comedy, music, poetry and science. A year later, he was joined by Trent Burton, and the show eventually became known as Nine Lessons and Carols for Godless People.
Ince and comedian Josie Long then started a successful comedy podcast called Utter Shambles, with the three subsequently working together. Burton and Ince later established a pioneering science magazine app The Incomplete Map of the Cosmic Genome.
In late 2016, it was decided that the live shows, apps, podcasts and documentaries should all have a central hub, which is how The Cosmic Shambles Network came into being. It emerged as a creative place, with the team producing independent content.
Shambles has enlisted many prominent scientists who examine the world of “curious things”. The network's contributors include Helen Czerski, Julia Shaw, Chris Jackson, Lucie Green and Matt Parker.
