Cardiff shoppers hit the high street sales

Savvy shoppers in Cardiff have hit the city’s shops in their thousands over the post-Christmas sales period, with record-breaking numbers of bargain hunters descending upon the area.

Cardiff city centre welcomed thousands of shoppers into its streets this sale period, with around 140,000 shoppers visiting the St David’s Centre on boxing day, and with an estimated 200,000 people shopping in the centre on the following day – breaking all known records for the amount of people visiting St David’s. Steve Madeley, the centre’s manager, spoke about this increase in shoppers, saying:

“Shoppers are more financially conscious this year than any other, and the sales period gives them the perfect opportunity to bag a bargain and make the most of their money. We are delighted that the centre has performed so well yet again this Christmas – a fantastic achievement given the current economic climate.”

In sale periods, local independent shops in Cardiff city centre are in direct competition with big national chain stores and it is important that they do everything they can to attract shoppers into their premises. This can range from outdoor promotions such as Posters displayed on A-frames or sandwich boards, or Flyers handed out in the streets to tell potential customers about the discounts on offer. Many shops also rely on eye-catching point of sale material, created using POS printing.

Cardiff shoppers have so far seemed delighted with the sale bargains that they have picked up, and many sales still continue in shops around the city centre.
